With the exception of mostly routine resolutions, there isn’t much to summarize in the 25 minute meeting.

Solar Law. In a 4-1 vote, the Board referred out a modified version of amendments to the Solar Law.

The new version continues the total ban on large scale ground mounted solar installations in residential neighborhoods – but – would grandfather in the two projects caught in the 2024 moratorium.  Those projects would have to adhere to new standards, including revised setback and screening requirements.

Councilwoman Siegel voted no, explaining that she preferred the Board hold off referring out a proposed law until the Ilan Gilbert, the incoming councilman, had an opportunity to weigh in on the proposed changes.

The text of the revised law will be uploaded to the Town Clerk’s page on the town website. No date was set for a public hearing.

Emergency Medical Services.  The Board passed a resolution to send a letter to Governor Hochul urging her to sign legislation that would exempt the town’s $1.1 million tax levy for the EMS fund from the tax cap calculation. (Note: The cap is based on the TOTAL levy for all the town’s separate funds.)

Revolutionary War monument.  In the 4-1 vote, the Board authorized a $15,000 expense to erect a monument in honor of the veterans of the Revolutionary War.  Supervisor Lachterman added that at a future date, he anticipated the Board will request funds for a Civil War monument. Both will be erected at Veterans Circle, formerly known as Patriot Park.

Councilwoman Siegel voted against the resolution saying she preferred to wait until January when the Board will hopefully meet with the Heritage Preservation Commission and other groups to plan, prioritize and fund events and programs for the town’s250 celebration.
