Cell tower. The reconvened public hearing scheduled for March 3 MAY be moved to the Nutrition Center in the Community Center if the Board anticipates a large number of people might attend. A decision on the location will be made next week.
The need for additional information regarding the feasibility of small towers as an alternative was raised during Public Comment and who should provide such information. In response to a resident’s comment, Councilwoman Siegel said that the Board needed more specific information on exactly which streets were experiencing problems and how many small towers would be needed, and whether the affected streets already had poles that were tall enough for the antennas.
Sewer consolidation plan. (See Town Board, February 10, 2026) Councilwoman Siegel announced that contrary to what was said at last week’s Board meeting, staff has now decided that it needs to hire an outside consultant to study how the town should proceed with the consolidation and that the town will, at a future meeting, advertise a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a consultant to do the study.
Communications software. The Board heard a vendor presentation about texting software that would enable residents to get emergency alerts and information from the town as well as send messages and questions to the town. Councilwoman Siegel suggested that before the Board made any decision on new communications software, it should explore other software that also provided email and voice options in addition to text.
Comprehensive Plan. Supervisor Lachterman that at the March 3 meeting, he would have information about plans to update the Comprehensive Plan. Councilwoman Siegel added that based on a conversation she had with the planning director, the Planning Department would be identifying sections of the 2010 Plan that may be outdated and/or in need of updating and what, if any, next steps the Board could take to update the Plan.
