NOTE:  In order not to conflict with  Police Department’s National Night Out, the August 4th Board meeting has been rescheduled to Wednesday, August 5th.

Car wash (See Town Board, July 14, 2026) Supervisor Lachterman repeated that car washes are allowed in the current zone but that given the fact that some Board members have expressed concern about the use, the Board will be exploring the issue further.

Granite Knolls Sports Complex. (See Town Board, July 14, 2026)   Parks Superintendent Jim Martorano advised the Board that the park will be closed to all residents from August 1st – August 16th while the parking lot is paved.   The plan includes depositing some of the old gravel on town owned land across Stony Street to create additional parking.

Streetscape for Yorktown Heights hamlet (See Town Board, March 17, 2026). Councilman Esposito explained that the Board will not proceed with the more limited scope of an earlier RFP and instead consider a revised RFP that would take a more comprehensive look at the entire hamlet, adding that any agreed upon recommendations could be phased in over time as funds were available and/or site plan changes were proposed for existing parcels in the hamlet.

The revised RFP will include a traffic component  that will consider the feasibility of a one-way system on Commerce Street, as well bike paths that would loop  around the hamlet.

Before having the Planning Department finalizes the text of the RFP,  Councilman Esposito invited public suggestions on what could be included in the text. Councilwoman Siegel suggested that the study include Veterans Road to Maple Hill and also the lower part of Commerce Street and its loops to Underhill Avenue.

The Board voted to advertise the RFP but Board members will have to approve the actual text before it is advertised.

(Note:  A previous Board set aside either $1million or $2 million of fund balance to fund an eventual streetscape project.)

E-bikes. (See Town Board, July 7, 2026).  Several residents and Board members spoke about the need for more education on the safe use of e-bikes, the need for some town legislation regulating their use, and enforcing any new town law or the existing state law that regulates e-bike use. Councilwoman Siegel she would share with the Board samples of other e-bike legislation in other Westchester municipalities. Supervisor Lachterman explained from proposed educational outreach measures.

Cell tower law. The Board approved a resolution to  hire telecommunications consultant Douglas Fishman to provide assistance in formulating a revised telecommunications law at a cost not to exceed $5,000. Supervisor Lachterman said that if Mr. Fishman is available, a discussion on what could be included in the proposed law could be on the Board’s August 5thagenda.

EMS RFP. In response to a question from Councilwoman Siegel about the status of the RFP text, Supervisor Lachterman said that after four Board members agreed to a revised text, the clerk’s office will now advertise the RFP.  Councilwoman Siegel did not elaborate on why she believed the revised  text detracted from, rather than added to, the study.
